About Us

ILEE was founded by Amerigo Education in 2019 as a way to promote leadership excellence in their ten partner schools. Of the ten presidents that initially partnered with Amerigo, only three are in the same position today.

This example, and similar examples of leadership turnover and unfilled vacancies across the country, was a call to action for ILEE and its leadership team. Clearly, a new leadership formation model for Catholic schools is needed. ILEE’s vision and mission reflect both the need and the solution.

Our Work

Catholic schools are facing a leadership crisis with constant turnover, scarcity of qualified candidates for open positions, and failed searches in dozens of dioceses.

The role of the Catholic school leader today is more difficult and challenging than it has ever been.

ILEE seeks to strengthen the Catholic educational ecosystem by:

  • Helping to develop and sustain experienced, innovative leaders;
  • Identifying and developing the next generation of leaders;
  • Better connecting leaders across the Catholic education field, and across traditional silos and stakeholder groups; and
  • Nourishing spirituality through inspirational faith experiences.

Our work is to support exceptional, innovative leaders who bring urgency and dedication to ensuring that all our children have access to excellent Catholic schools.

Our Pillars

ILEE provides transformational leadership development opportunities for leaders who are reimagining the Catholic education ecosystem for all children. ILEE was founded on five main pillars, which have informed our approach to the Fellowship programming:

                • Increasing capacity of leaders working in Catholic education
                • Increasing diversity of leadership in Catholic education
                • Nurturing innovation
                • Building networks of leaders
                • Growing in spirituality through profound experiences of faith
