- About Jennifer Henry -Matt Powell
Matt has a long history with the De La Salle Christian Brothers, starting as a high school student at La Salle High School in Milwaukie, OR, and extending his Lasallian association for over 30 years. His involvement covered commitments to classroom teaching and administrative positions as well as serving on his alma mater’s Board of Trustees during the time he had a career as a national sales manager in a manufacturing company. However, in 1998, the pull of the Lasallian educational experience motivated him to return to using his talents and expertise in working directly with students and their families in a school setting. Matt’s business experience and entrepreneurial vision, combined with his Lasallian educational passion, led him to be the founding president of De La Salle North Catholic High School in Portland, the first replication of the Cristo Rey school model. This Lasallian school is exclusively dedicated to transforming underserved communities in partnership with businesses, philanthropists, families, and educators. Matt, and his wife Jamie, have three grown children who also benefited from a Lasallian education. In 2014, the couple moved to Napa for Matt to serve as the Executive Director of the Lasallian Christian Brothers Foundation. Matt is steeped in the Lasallian Catholic mission based not only on his personal lived experience, but also due to the numerous Lasallian schools he has served within the District of San Francisco New Orleans as an educator, leader, and Trustee. He is committed to creating a culture where students, families, and educators feel welcome and have a true sense of belonging. Throughout his career, Matt has also demonstrated a record of success in fundraising. He is a highly relational leader whose enthusiasm attracts others to the Lasallian mission and how Lasallian schools impact the lives of students and educators alike.
