Matt Barmore
Matt recently retired after 41 years in Catholic schools. He began his career at St. Ignatius in San Francisco as a teacher (math & English) and coach (basketball). After 15 years at SI, Matt moved with his family to Seattle to serve as principal of Seattle Prep. During his 26 years at Prep, he served as the principal (twice for a total of 12 years), teacher, basketball coach, and Director of Adult Faith Formation. In addition, Matt served as the Executive Director of the Ignatian Spirituality Center in Seattle for three years. Matt currently directs retreats for Catholic school personnel groups and works as a consultant for schools in the area of staff development and retention. When not leading retreats, Matt enjoys cooking, swimming, hot yoga, and spending time with his family – especially his first grandchild, Wes!

Rev Denis Holtschneider CM
Rev. Denis Holtschneider CM is Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Fellow of Church Leadership at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Most recently, he was president of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, and previously served as president of DePaul University, and chair and then COO of Ascension, the largest Catholic health system in the United States. He is the author of two national studies on church governance structures in the United States, and lectures on governance and strategy at Harvard University, and on Catholic university leadership at Boston College. Fr. Holtschneider holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics, masters degrees in theology and Christian ethics, and a doctorate in administration, planning and social policy from Harvard University, from which he also holds a post-graduate certificate in health care strategy. He serves on numerous boards, including the United Board for Christian Education in Asia, and is the co-founder of the Institute for Global Homelessness, the preeminent consulting organization on street homelessness in the world and the primary advisor to the United Nations on the topic.

Richard Bautch
Rich Bautch serves as the Executive Director of the Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. The Institute works closely with its nationwide network of 17 Holy Cross high schools and eight Holy Cross colleges and universities to enhance mission integration in Catholic secondary and higher education. Richard is also a tenured professor in the Theology Department at St. Edward’s, with previous teaching roles at the University of Notre Dame and the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. Rich has authored or edited eight books on subjects including communal prayer, spirituality, and the biblical concept of covenant. He is the general editor of the Catholic Biblical Quarterly Monograph Series and serves on several editorial boards, including the Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint, a significant European initiative. He is currently vice president of the Catholic Biblical Association and will serve as its president in 2025-2026. Rich has a special interest in parish life and providing biblical resources to persons working in pastoral settings; he has contributed to the Paulist Biblical Commentary, the Jerome Biblical Commentary for the 21st Century, and the Catholic Study Bible. In addition, he has training in spiritual direction from the Mercy Center in Burlingame, California. Originally from the Chicago area, Richard holds a BA in Journalism from Marquette University, an MA in English Literature from Loyola University of Chicago, and a PhD in Theology/Biblical Studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Shane Martin
As Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Provost Shane P. Martin oversees the Academic and Student Affairs Division of Seattle University. Dr. Martin is a 2015 fellow of the Pahara-Aspen Education Fellowship, a branch of the Aspen Institute. Prior to coming to Seattle University, he served for almost 25 years at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) as a faculty member and administrator, completing 14 years as Dean of the LMU School of Education and six as Dean of Graduate Studies. He received an honorary doctorate from LMU in 2018. An educational anthropologist by training, his areas of expertise include intercultural education, inclusive excellence, educational policy, leadership, and Jesuit education. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including: the National Catholic Educational Association’s (NCEA) Michael J. Guerra Leadership Award and the Catherine T. McNamee, CSJ, Award, and the Loyola High School Alumni Association’s Cahalan Award. Provost Martin earned his Ph.D. at the University of Southern California and an M.Th. and M.Div. at the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University (JST).
